Signing books at Barnes and Noble in Bakersfield on Saturday was not a champagne affair, it was business. The friendly staff prepared a book table for me and told me I could sit behind the table, stand and do a meet and greet (my style) or be more of a barker and grab shoppers as they came through the door (not my style).

I’m a seasonal sort, programmed for certain activities at specific times of the year. My Friends are posting about happy New Year’s Day traditions, parades and football games, gourmet breakfasts, birding walks. Not for us. Every January 1, we make a clean start by sorting through the Orchard Supply closet. It’s our tradition.

There are as many ways to do blog tours, I suspect, as there are ways to plan a vacation. What is a blog tour? As best as I can figure it out, around the time you get ready to release a book, you want to make guest appearances on other people’s blogs, either by writing a guest post or doing an author interview.
