Dynamic Woman — Changing Times

The Sheep Walker’s Daughter

Know Your Place

Do you know your place? Is it where you were born and raised, went away to school, moved across country to live with the one you love, or found your dream job? Is it a landscape that soothes or inspires you, one that you visit often or only in your imagination?

Writing California: Los Altos

Los Altos in the Fifties was a great place to grow up. As many of the authors in this blog series have done, I set my novel The Sheep Walker’s Daughter partly in my hometown. Growing up, I spent a lot of time in my grandmother’s dance studio on Lundy Lane listening to her stories about life during the Depression and World War II. She saw a past. I saw a future.

The Less Than Perfect Christmas

Writers asked to do novel excerpts on Christmas themes might assume readers expect perfect Christmas scenes with the family gathered around the tree celebrating the joy of Christ’s birth. But this Hallmark Christmas moment is not what many families experience.

Ways to do blog tours

There are as many ways to do blog tours, I suspect, as there are ways to plan a vacation. What is a blog tour? As best as I can figure it out, around the time you get ready to release a book, you want to make guest appearances on other people’s blogs, either by writing a guest post or doing an author interview.
